Emergency Backup Power
Until recently, most Canadians felt pretty
confident that electricity would be there when we needed it, and
it usually is. But, the public electrical grid is not
infallible. Whether due to a downed power line from a car accident
down the street, a major ice storm, or
a brownout caused by hot humid summer weather,
it's a virtual certainty that you will experience some kind
of power outage in the next year.
Ottawa Solar Power can help you prepare for when the grid next goes
down. We sell, install and service Carmanah (carmanah.com) Back-up
Power Systems. Each system is sized to your needs. Contact us for more
details.
Each system is a complete, self-contained unit
that can be installed easily and quickly in a basement or garage
and is permanently wired into your house's main circuit panel.
It is continuously being charged when the power is on and
and constantly monitors your grid-based power and switches automatically
to its built in battery bank when an outage is detected. Adding solar
power capabilities provides even more security; the solar system
will charge your batteries even when the grid cannot.
The System provides back-up
power for many household and small business devices such as: baby
monitors, security and smoke alarms, telephones, lights, furnace
fans, sump, water and septic pumps, computers, and refrigerators.
Not suitable for stoves, electric heaters or air-conditioners.
Depending on the model of system you install and how many batteries
you add, you can provide continuous emergency power output from 2800
to 3500 watts for 4 to 16 hours. For short periods, such as when
a refrigerator or pump kicks on, surge power can be provided from
3900 to 7200 watts. |
