Incentive Programs for Solar Power
Net metering allows you to send electricity you generate with solar
power to the electrical grid for credit toward your energy costs.
Your utility company will subtract the value of electricity you
supply to the grid from the value of what you take from the grid.
What you’ll see on your bill is the “net” difference
between those two amounts. There are costs involved in converting
to a net metering system. Net metering is not yet available to
Hydro Ottawa customers. Net metering is available to Hydro One
and Hydro Québec customers. For more information contact
your local utility company.
The provincial government of Ontario is offering
a $500 rebate for solar domestic water heating systems.
If you generate more electricity from solar electricity than you
need you can sell the surplus to Ontario's electrical grid at 42
cents/kwh (approximately 7 times the current cost of buying electricity
from the grid). For more information visit the website at: www.powerauthority.on.ca

There is a Provincial Sales Tax Rebate on all residential solar
equipment sold in Ontario. This program is set to expire July, 2008.
The program will pay 25% of the capital costs to companies and organizations
installing solar thermal technology (water and air heating). For
